The land of Silchar, Mizoram House was purchased on 15th November, 1973 Mizoram House, Silchar was constructed in the year 1979 at that time it was under P.W.D and later under Food & Civil Supplies and Transport Department. From July 1982 it has come under G.A.D.
Presently Mizoram House, Silchar is headed by Deputy Resident Commissioner along with Assistant Resident Commissioner and other staff members. Mizoram House, Silchar is the only Circuit House where visitors from Mizoram while coming to passing through Assam either on Official or non-Official or private purpose can safely and peacefully stay in it. Deputy Resident Commissioner, Silchar Mizoram House is authorized to issue temporary ILP to non-indigenous people who are entering Mizoram for work purpose or as tourists for a period of 7 (seven) days. Mizoram House, Silchar also earns revenue for the state from issuing ILP.
