Saitual District was newly created by the Government of Mizoram vide a notification dated 3 June 2019. The District was mapped out from the then existing administrative district of Aizawl and Champhai. Saitual District administers two civil Sub-Divisions, viz. Saitual and Ngopa, which is divided into two development blocks, viz. Phullen and Ngopa.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner started functioning since 5 August 2019 with Pu C. Lalpeksanga, MCS acting as the first Deputy Commissioner of the District. Pu R. Lalnghakliana, MCS joined as the first Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Pu R. Vanlalsawma, MCS served as the first Sub-Divisional Officer. The current incumbency to the said posts is: Pu VL Hruaizela Khiangte, MCS (Deputy Commissioner), Pi Margaret Lalrinawmi Fanai, MCS (Additional Deputy Commissioner) and Pu Daniel Sailo, MCS (Sub-Divisional Officer). The first Sub-Deputy Commissioner Pu Albert Vanlalruata, MCS joined his current post on 3 August 2020.
Overseen and coordinated by the Deputy Commissioner, the establishment has two branches, viz. Account Branch and General Branch. While the Account Branch primarily deals with works relating to account and financial matters, the General Branch handles any other files and works assigned to the establishment. The SDO (S) holds an additional charge as Settlement Officer under the establishment wherein three Surveyors are posted under his supervision to deal with land revenue and settlement matter.
The Office currently runs in a building belonging to Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department before completion of its own building, which is being constructed at a government land.
