The State Election Commission is a constitutional body constituted by the Governor under Article 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution of India. The State Election Commission, Mizoram was accordingly constituted vide Notification No.B.13017/11/2008-UD&PA(M), dt.28.8.2008 and it was inaugurated on 3rd October, 2008. It has been set up to bring about an independent and an efficient electoral mechanism vested with great responsibilities of the superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of electoral rolls for, and the conduct of, all elections to the various local bodies including the Autonomous District Councils.
